Mamdani Says ‘It Is a Mandate’ to Deliver Socialist Agenda in NYC

New York’s new mayor-elect isn’t waiting for the keys to City Hall before flexing his socialist muscle.

Zohran Mamdani, 34, fresh off his election win, has boldly declared he’ll push ahead with his “mandate”—a full-throttle plan to tax the rich and deliver on his far-left agenda.

“It is a mandate,” he told The New York Times on Wednesday. “I’m looking to be clear about the mandate that we won over the course of this election, and it is a mandate to deliver on the agenda that we ran on.”

The declaration came as the Democratic Socialists of America openly took credit for Mamdani’s win over former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, calling it proof that New Yorkers have embraced their radical playbook.

“Our movement is at the heart of Zohran’s campaign,” boasted DSA NYC co-chair Gustavo Gordillo. “This overwhelming victory is a clear mandate for a Democratic socialist agenda to make New York City one that people can afford.”

Gordillo couldn’t resist taking a swipe at the right:

“MAGA billionaires spent millions to prop up Andrew Cuomo and try to stop this movement, but we’ve proved once again: they have money, but we have power.”

The tone mirrors Mamdani’s fiery election-night speech—where he thundered that his triumph was nothing less than a “mandate for change.”

Now, New Yorkers wait to see what that “change” really means—and who’ll be left holding the bill.
