Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, once the fiercest defender of President Biden’s mental acuity, appeared on Capitol Hill Friday to face questions about the alleged cover-up of the 46th president’s cognitive decline.
Jean-Pierre — who has since left the Democratic Party and is writing a tell-all memoir about what she calls a “broken” administration — testified before the House Oversight Committee.
“We intentionally wanted Jean-Pierre to be one of the last people we bring in,” Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) told reporters. “We believe that she’s written some things in the book that are gonna be of interest to our entire investigation.”

Republicans signaled Friday they will question former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre not only about President Biden’s health but also about former Vice President Kamala Harris’ claim in her upcoming memoir that it was “reckless” for Biden to seek a second term.
Lawmakers also plan to probe allegations that the executive autopen was abused to sign thousands of pardons — including some for members of the Biden family — in the final hours before Biden left office in January.
Jean-Pierre, who brushed past reporters ahead of her testimony, previously dismissed concerns about the then-president’s age, even calling videos of Biden appearing to wander off during a high-profile world summit “cheap fakes” despite unease from within his own party.
