The United States Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement have executed 5,000 arrests of illegal aliens in Los Angeles since June.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem marked the milestone with a warning: “This is just the beginning.”
The 5,000th arrest was Gustavo Garcia-Miranda, a convicted Mexican drug trafficker who first entered the U.S. illegally in 2008 and was taken into custody by Border Patrol for re-entry, a DHS official told The Daily Wire.
“That’s 5,000 criminal illegal aliens, gang members, child predators, and murderers taken off our streets,” Noem said. “Precious lives saved. Families protected. American taxpayers spared the cost of their crimes and the burden of their benefits.”
“THANK YOU to our brave law enforcement officers,” the Homeland Security Secretary emphasized. “Make no mistake: if you are here illegally, we will find you, arrest you, and send you back. This is just the beginning.”
