A late-term abortion business in the nation’s capital has stopped killing babies following a complaint against its abortionist.
But that may not be the only reason the abortion center has closed.
As LifeNews reported, late-term abortionist who kill babies in Washington, D.C. was caught disoriented and wearing a full arm cast before he reportedly began doing risky late-term abortions.
Local pro-life advocates who encountered and photographed Cesare Santangelo say he was in no condition to do surgical abortions. They said that if he did abortions that day, he would put women’s lives at risk.

Now, following the complaint last Thursday, the Washington Surgi Clinic abortion center has halted appointments.
But, a new report from the pro-life group Live Action indicates that Washington Surgi Clinic’s medical license with the City of Washington has expired.
According to the pro-life group, “Washington Surgi-Clinic’s license expired in early August and was not renewed” and “an online record failed to show that the facility was licensed in its updated listing from June.”
DC Health, which licenses ambulatory surgical centers, has shown the Washington Surgi-Clinic as being licensed for years. However, DC Health’s most recent listing (updated June 13, 2025), failed to show that the late-term abortion facility was licensed.
A response from DC Health on September 3 stated that “The license for Washington Surgi Center expired on August 10, 2025, and was not renewed.” No other information was sent.
The facility’s website has no indication that they are no longer licensed to operate.
The pro-life group, The Survivors, compiled numerous complaints and lawsuits filed against Cesare Santangelo, into a 14 page complaint which was filed with the DC Board of Medicine and is currently under review, informed LifeNews of the abortion stoppage.
“New video from The Survivors shows an activist calling the Washington Surgi-Clinic to make an appointment. The receptionist informed the activist that they are not currently taking appointments, and she is only in the office to refer people to the national abortion federation hotline. The staff member stated they hope to take appointments again in late September but are unable to schedule patients until closer to that date,” the group told LifeNews.
This follows after activists on the ground report they have not seen abortionist Cesare Santangelo in over 3 weeks since the video showing him medically compromised.
Sam Brown, a volunteer with The Survivors stated “After the mission, I continued to go to Surgi on at least a weekly basis. Since Late July, neither me nor any of my colleagues have seen Santangelo enter or exit the facility. God willing this indicates the closure of Washington Surgi-Clinic.”
They showed a video of Santangelo having considerable difficulty getting into his abortion center.
Kristin Turner, the regional organizer for The Survivors DC, was present at the abortion business to see Santangelo in his dysfunctional state.
“I watched him step out of his car. I was shocked by his condition. He was dazed, confused, and he couldn’t walk without help from his cane and caretaker, his right arm was in a full cast, and clinic staff met him at the door with a wheelchair. I’ve encountered him several times in the last 3 years and this was the worst condition I’ve seen him in yet,” she explained.
Tim Clement, Director of The Survivors stated, “Should anyone receive subpar care at Washington Surgi-Clinic after the filing of this complaint and concern, it would be both negligent and legitimate medical malpractice by Dr. Santangelo and all staff currently employed at Washington Surgi-Clinic. Moreover, should any outside entities such as NARAL’s “abortion finder chatbot” refer someone to Washington Surgi-Clinic after the filing of this complaint, it would be both misconduct and irresponsible of the referring agency, opening them to liability.”
The 14-page complaint details a considerable amount of alleged professional misconduct at Santangelo’s abortion facility. A woman died after a botched late-term abortion that was performed there in 2010. The department chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University filed a medical board complaint against Santangelo in 2013. There were also two medical malpractices lawsuits filed against Santangelo in 2019.
