Zohran Kwame Mamdani, the Uganda-born Muslim Marxist who promised to destroy New York City with crackpot plans to make everything “free” and release dangerous criminals onto the streets, crushed independent Andrew Cuomo by more than 200,000 votes in yesterday’s mayoral election.
Republican Curtis Sliwa, a radio talker and founder of New York City’s nonprofit crime-fighting group Guardian Angels, had no chance of winning and finished a distant third.
Considering Mamdani’s list of endorsements, which include top Democrats in Congress and the Senate, the city assemblyman who often posted outrightly communist memes on his X feed is now the face of the Democratic Party.
Vote Breakdown, Backers
Mamdani received 1,036,051 votes, to the former Empire State governor’s 854,995 — 50.4 percent to 41.6 percent. More than 90 percent of the votes had been counted as of this morning, The New York Times reported.
Mamdani clobbered Cuomo in four of the five city’s boroughs. He bested Cuomo, who resigned as governor after farrago of sexual harassment accusations, by 20 points in Brooklyn, 11 points in the Bronx, and 10 points in Manhattan.
That Mamdani is a thoroughgoing radical didn’t bother many Democrats, or at least those who endorsed him.
That list included, of course, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also a socialist, as well as other top New York politicians one would think would know better, including far-left Representatives Jerry Nadler and Patrick Ryan, Governor Kathy Hochul, and hate-Trump Attorney General Letitia James, who faces an indictment for mortgage fraud.
Also endorsing Mamdani was socialist U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Massachusetts’ far-left Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren, the notorious Pretendian.
Another endorser: hate-Trump Indian immigrant Pramila Jayapal.
Thus have top Democrats made Mamdani the top Democrat in the country, at least for now.
Mamdani’s Platform — Open Communism
A citizen less than 10 years before New Yorkers imprudently put him in office, Mamdani was at least honest about his plans to wreck the city.
He vowed to “Trump-proof” New York City by making it “the strongest sanctuary city in the country,” and said he would “get ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] out of all City facilities and end any cooperation” with the agency. He also “will increase funding for immigration legal services to provide representation for people and communities targeted by mass deportation.”
Other of his plans include freezing rent, “free” child care, “free” public transportation, and a minimum wage of $30 per hour.
Last December, Mamdani revealed just how radical a Muslim he is. He vowed to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he showed up in New York City. “As mayor, New York City would arrest Benjamin Netanyahu,” he said. “This is a city that our values are in line with international law. It’s time that our actions are also.”
Mamdani’s sentiments are openly communist. He told the Young Democratic Socialists in 2021:
Right now, if we’re talking about the cancellation of student debt, if we’re talking about Medicare for all, you know, these are issues which have the groundswell of popular support across this country.
But then there are also other issues that we firmly believe in, whether it’s BDS [the Boycott, Divest, and Sanction movement against Israel] or whether it is the end goal of seizing the means of production, where we do not have the same level of support at this very moment. [Emphasis added.]
“Each according to their need, each according to their ability,” he wrote on X May 27, 2020, a sentiment he takes from Karl Marx.
A thoroughgoing racialist, Mamdani wants to “shift the tax burden from overtaxed homeowners in the outer boroughs to more expensive homes in richer and whiter neighborhoods.” He also vowed to shut down the Rikers Island jail complex, which would loose almost 8,000 criminals into the city.
“Tonight you have delivered a mandate for change, a mandate for a new kind of politics,” he rightly said in his acceptance speech:
We have toppled a political dynasty. I wish Andrew Cuomo only the best in private life. But let tonight be the final time I speak his name.
As for the city, immigrants are now in charge, he said:
New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, led by an immigrant.
Reaction
Of course, the Democrats who supported Mamdani are red with joy. But while Mamdani might have received more than 1 million votes, not all city dwellers are happy.
“Hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers are prepared to bolt from the Big Apple if socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani wins Tuesday’s mayoral race — potentially setting the stage for the largest population flight in US history, an alarming new poll warned early Monday,” the New York Post reported on Monday:
Around 765,000 people of the 8.4 million residents who call New York City home are preparing to leave, with about 9% of New Yorkers sharing that they would “definitely” leave the city if Mamdani is elected the 111th mayor, the Daily Mail reported, citing a survey conducted by J.L. Partners.
If those residents were to leave, it would be equal to the population of Washington, DC, Las Vegas, or Seattle fleeing the city.
Another 25% of New Yorkers — about 2.12 million — said they would “consider” packing up and leaving.
GOP Texas Governor Greg Abbott vowed to impose a 100-percent tax on New Yorkers who flee to Texas. But that aside, maybe those city dwellers understand what GOP U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson (La.) and others explained.
“If Mamdani wins New York City, it’ll be the biggest victory for Marxists and socialists in American history,” Johnson said:
He’s called to DEFUND police, ABOLISH prisons, LEGALIZE prostitution, and even attacked Jewish people and American law enforcement in the same breath.
This isn’t just New York’s problem — it’s spreading to cities like Seattle, Minneapolis, and even Congress.
The radical Marxist wing is taking over the Democrat Party — and EVERY American should be alarmed.
Said GOP Representative Randy Fine of Florida, “legal immigrants who hate America elected a Communist Muslim Jihadist”:
New York City has fallen. America is next if we don’t stop it.
Mamdani’s Marxist radical parents gave him his middle name to honor Ghanian communist Kwame Nkrumah.
