Thousands Join Michigan March for Life to Condemn Abortion

Today, thousands of Michigan citizens filled the Capitol steps and lawn for the second Michigan March for Life, hosted by Right to Life of Michigan (RLM) in partnership with the national March for Life. People of all ages and backgrounds came from all corners of the state to march for women and children, including the unborn.

RLM President Amber Roseboom was the first speaker, noting, “We are the future of the pro-life movement. We stand with not against women facing unplanned pregnancies. We offer compassion, the truth in love, and hope, including the practical support and resources to make a choice for life!” She added, “While a woman in Michigan can have an abortion at any point in her pregnancy for any reason, no woman should ever be made to feel that abortion is her best or only option. Abortion advocates want women to believe abortion is their only option. We have another message – You are NOT alone! We stand with you! We stand for you!”

Nearly 100 pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) across Michigan offer practical, loving support and resources helping women who face unplanned pregnancies make a choice for life. The crowd was provided a help number (1-800-712-HELP) for women, couples, or men to call or text for confidential help, counseling and practical support, including medical care, right in their communities. RLM is honored to partner with PRCs in their compassionate work. To see a recent ad from RLM, visit here.

The march came at a time of growing concern for women’s safety in Michigan, following the removal of health and safety regulations on abortion clinics, informed consent, and abortion complication reporting. Last year alone, the rate of serious complications from abortion spiked up 38%. (Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Abortion Report, 2024). After that detrimental information was released, complication reporting was ended in our state. Part of the event was a call for the state legislature to reinstitute gathering and releasing that important data so women know the facts about the dangers they face from abortion before undergoing one in Michigan.

Today’s rally speakers included His Excellency Earl Boyea, Bishop of the Diocese of Lansing; Mayra Rodriguez, former Planned Parenthood whistleblower; Amber Roseboom, president of Right to Life of Michigan; Jennie Bradley Lichter, president of March for Life; Angi Lok, nurse at the Pregnancy Resource Center of Grand Rapids; Emery Elenbaas, mother and pro-life advocate; U.S. Congressman Tom Barrett; State Senator John Damoose; State Representative Ann Bollin; and State Representative Jennifer Wortz.

Right to Life of Michigan extends heartfelt gratitude to the other organizations, many families, churches, and schools that came together to make this year’s Michigan March for Life a success. Together, they sent a powerful message of hope — that every woman deserves support and every opportunity to make a choice for life.
