White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will brief reporters Wednesday afternoon as an end to the record-long government shutdown appears finally within reach.
President Trump signaled his support earlier this week for the Senate-passed continuing resolution, following weeks of gridlock over how to end the 43-day funding lapse.
The House returns Wednesday after a nearly two-month recess to vote on the measure, which is expected to pass. Once it does, the bill will head to Trump’s desk for his signature, officially bringing the shutdown to a close.
