MORTGAGE MESS! Swalwell SLAPPED With Mortgage Fraud Criminal Referral

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) was hit with a criminal referral for alleged mortgage and tax fraud tied to his $1.2 million Washington, DC home — a house he claimed as his primary residence, The New York Post has confirmed.

FHFA Director Bill Pulte fired off a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi on Wednesday requesting a full investigation into Swalwell’s allegedly false and misleading statements about the 2020 purchase, according to NBC News.

A source familiar with the referral said the California Democrat secured millions of dollars in loans and refinancing using that primary-residence declaration — a designation that could amount to mortgage fraud, insurance fraud, and state and local tax fraud.

FHFA’s inspector general is also probing the alleged scheme.

Swalwell fired back.

“As the most vocal critic of Donald Trump over the last decade and as the only person who still has a surviving lawsuit against him, the only thing I am surprised about is that it took him this long to come after me,” he said.

“Like James Comey and John Bolton, Adam Schiff and Lisa Cook, Letitia James and the dozens more to come – I refuse to live in fear in what was once the freest country in the world.”

He added that he is now the fourth Democratic official targeted for mortgage fraud by the Trump administration.

“Of course, I will not end my lawsuit against him. And I will not stop speaking out against the president and speaking up for Californians,” the congressman continued.

Swalwell bought the six-bedroom, 5.5-bath Victorian bungalow — perched in D.C.’s historic Eckington neighborhood, just a mile from the Capitol — for $1.2 million in 2020.

The 3,000-square-foot home had been gutted of its original 1920s interiors and fitted with modern finishes, including a stainless-steel fireplace and white marble chimney breast.

Swalwell added: “As Mark Twain said, ‘Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.’ Mr. President, do better. Be Better.”
