I’d be the first to admit that I don’t understand, I can’t even begin to fathom, the thirst for abortion—killing—all the way up until birth that is taking place around the world, including here at home. That emergent mindset, now deeply embedded in the DNA of today’s Democrat party, has metastasized from abortion, legal and rare, to what can only be described as a bloodlust for hapless preborn babies.
There is a gleefulness about plans to open the floodgates that is not only disturbing and awful, but genuinely creepy even demonic.
Scotland is only the most recent example. The government commissioned a review of its already “liberal” abortion law “by the Abortion Law Review Expert Group, which was chaired by a former trustee of the UK’s largest abortion provider”—BPAS.

“BPAS have made it explicit that they are campaigning to remove all gestational time limits for abortion,” according to Right to Life UK. “This position was affirmed by their then CEO, Ann Furedi, who at the launch of the campaign to ‘decriminalise’ abortion stated, ‘I want to be very, very clear and blunt … there should be no legal upper limit.’”
There is currently, on paper, a limit: no abortions after 24 weeks for “social reasons.” But “The report recommends that this 24-week limit be scrapped, and social abortions be allowed right through to birth – the language the report proposes is used for abortions post-24 weeks is similar to (in fact weaker than) the current grounds.”
The inclusion of social circumstances means that pro-abortion healthcare professionals could approve abortions at full term on purely social grounds – and they would not have to document them. Similarly, the inclusion of “psychological” circumstances is very similar to the current mental health grounds in the Abortion Act, currently restricted to before 24 weeks, which is interpreted by abortion providers to allow abortion on demand.
While I read about this ghastly development in a story from Right to Life UK, it has disturbing echoes here in the United States.
I am reminded of something Jessica Valenti, who is fanatically pro-abortion in anyone’s book, wrote November 11 in her “Abortion, Every Day” Substack :
Something Democrats should remember as Dannenfelser and other anti-abortion leaders try to frame the debate: voters actually support abortion for any reason, and—increasingly—throughout pregnancy.
We just have to talk openly about the issue. And, most importantly, we need to stop letting Republican messaging on abortion dominate the headlines and airwaves
Once upon a time, Valenti, and others who think like her, would occasionally talk about “hard cases” (they would use different language, of course) as justifications for late, late, late abortions.
Now? No longer a need for “justifications,” certainly no need for limits, and, it goes without saying, no need for mercy.
They are the face of today’s militant, in your face, take no prisoners abortion movement. Ponder that thought the next time you think you need to take a break.
