George Soros is trying to destroy X and censor conservative news outlets.

George Soros’s Open Society Foundations (OSF) donated $250,000 to the British nonprofit Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) in 2023 for general support, as revealed in OSF’s grant database.

This is according to an extensive report from the Washington Free Beacon.

Founded in 2018 by Imran Ahmed, a former Labour Party operative, the CCDH positions itself as a watchdog against online hate and disinformation, but critics label it a censorship advocacy group. The funding underscores Soros’s broader efforts to influence digital platforms, amid accusations that the organization targets conservative voices while ignoring others.

The CCDH has a history of pressuring tech giants to demonetize conservative outlets. In 2020, it petitioned Google to ban ads from The Federalist and Zero Hedge over alleged racist comments tied to George Floyd protest coverage. More recently, in January 2023, it accused Google of allowing The Daily Wire—owned by Ben Shapiro—to run ads alongside searches like “George Soros evil,” aiming to starve these sites of revenue through advertiser boycotts.

Following Elon Musk’s 2022 acquisition of Twitter (now X), the CCDH escalated its efforts with a covert campaign to “kill Musk’s Twitter” by urging advertisers to abandon the platform, according to leaked memos from Racket News. Musk responded aggressively, suing the group in July 2023 over a report claiming a spike in hate speech on X and vowing to pursue its donors. He has publicly branded Soros a perpetrator of “crimes against humanity” and the CCDH a “criminal organization.”

The CCDH’s ties extend to high-level politics: Ahmed co-founded it with Morgan McSweeney, chief of staff to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, whose aides met with Kamala Harris’s campaign in 2023 to strategize U.S. elections—drawing interference claims from Trump allies. In the U.S., the group lobbied 16 congressional offices, including Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s, and pushed for an “independent digital regulator.” Rep. Jim Jordan subpoenaed its donor list in 2023 amid probes into social media censorship collusion.

Beyond Soros’s contribution, the CCDH raked in $2.1 million in 2023 revenue, including $415,000 from Jeff Skoll’s fund and $403,175 from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. Notably, it has spared anti-Israel outlet Drop Site News—also funded $250,000 by OSF—from scrutiny, despite its controversial content. As the Trump administration eyes visa revocations for Ahmed and investigations into the Soroses, this saga highlights ongoing battles over free speech and foreign-funded digital oversight.
