President Trump sparked fresh speculation over Ukraine–Russia negotiations Monday morning, posting a cryptic message on TRUTH Social.
“Is it really possible that big progress is being made in Peace Talks between Russia and Ukraine???” the president wrote.
“Don’t believe it until you see it, but something good just may be happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
The message followed a key diplomatic meeting on Sunday. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff sat down with top Ukrainian officials to advance a new peace plan aimed at halting the conflict.
In a joint statement, the U.S. and Ukraine called the talks “highly productive.”
“The discussions showed meaningful progress toward aligning positions and identifying clear next steps,” Washington and Kyiv said. “They reaffirmed that any future agreement must fully uphold Ukraine’s sovereignty and deliver a sustainable and just peace.”
The two sides confirmed that “as a result of the discussions, the parties drafted an updated and refined peace framework.” Specifics have not yet been released, and “intensive work on joint proposals” is expected to continue in the coming days.
“Final decisions under this framework will be made by the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States,” the statement noted.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also echoed cautious optimism in an interview on Fox & Friends Monday morning.
“It was a very successful meeting between Ukraine and the US side and they will take it forward,” Rutte said. “The plan had to be worked through and some elements had to be changed, but there was also good stuff in the plan.”
