In yet another move imperiling the public, a sanctuary for illegal aliens has released a dangerous, previously deported Mexican illegal alien who caused a major wreck.
The illegal was driving a semitruck without a commercial driver’s license, but that didn’t matter to authorities in Lacey, Washington, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported. The jurisdiction ignored a lawful detainer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and released the Mexican miscreant.
Juan Hernandez-Santos is just another in the long line of illegals crisscrossing the nation’s highways in 18-wheelers at breakneck speed without the skills — or lawful documents — to handle one.

Detainer Ignored
Hernandez-Santos wrecked on December 4, DHS reported, in Lacey, when he crashed his 18-wheeler “into another vehicle, causing a six-car pile-up.”
One of the vehicles was a school bus, and three motorists — who undoubtedly didn’t know an illegal alien with no CDL was behind the wheel at the time — landed in the hospital.
DHS also divulged Hernandez-Santos’ career as a tenacious border jumper, along with his rap sheet as a violent criminal.
The Border Patrol booted him back to Mexico 20 years ago, on February 24, 2005. Unable to take a hint, “he illegally re-entered — a felony — and was removed again from the U.S. June 7, 2006,” DHS reported. Then he jumped the border again, date and place unknown.
Hernandez-Santos subsequently built quite the criminal resumé:
On May 24, 2008, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hernandez-Santos for driving without a license.
He was arrested again just one month later, on June 7, 2008, in California for driving under the influence and a hit-and-run with property damage.
On November 2, 2018, he was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
On February 24, 2020, the Los Angeles Police Department arrested Hernandez for driving under the influence.
Now this — a wreck in an 18-wheeler Hernandez-Santos had no business driving.
Washington state cops confirmed to The Center Square that the Mexican desperado had no CDL.
Washington State Patrol (WSP) spokesman Chris Loftis told the website:
The gentleman did not have a commercial driver’s license for either Mexico, which is his nation of origin, nor the United States or the state of Washington.
“The gentleman” was arrested for that crime, Loftis said:
It appears from the WSP accident report emailed to The Center Square that [Hernandez-Santos] was at fault, initially slamming into the back of a vehicle which had slowed for traffic, triggering a chain reaction crash that involved a school bus and four other vehicles.
Loftis said he could not confirm if the causing driver was legally in the country.
“We don’t participate in immigration enforcement,” he said. “We don’t record or share legal status unless it is part of a criminal investigation of a Washington state crime. So right now the investigation is still ongoing, so I don’t know what the status of that investigation is.”
It turns out, DHS reported, that authorities didn’t much care about Hernandez-Santos’ immigration status. They simply released him, refusing to honor a detainer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, DHS spokesman Tricia McLaughlin said.
“This dangerous illegal alien has a criminal history including multiple DUIs, possessing a controlled substance, and two prior removals from the U.S. He was a walking public safety threat and illegally was driving a massive 18-wheeler when he caused a six-car pile-up involving a school bus on [a] highway in Washington,” McLaughlin fumed:
Thankfully, no children were in the bus. This story could have had a very different tragic ending. The sanctuary politicians in Washington failed once again to protect American citizens by refusing to honor our ICE arrest detainer.
DHS did not report who had employed the Mexican criminal, whether ICE apprehended him, or whether he was on the loose.
Other Illegal Crashes
Washington is a sanctuary that hands out CDLs to anyone with a pulse. Indeed, the Evergreen State gave a CDL to Harjinder Singh, the first of two Indian illegals recently involved in triple-fatalities.
Singh made an illegal U-turn on a highway in Florida, which caused a motorist to smash into the trailer of his 18-wheeler. He failed an English test after the wreck. Although he was not eligible to receive a CDL, Washington and California both gave him one.
Another Indian, Biden “migrant” Jashanpreet Singh, killed three people in California, authorities allege, while driving under the influence. He needed an interpreter to answer questions after the wreck. Singh illegally possessed a REAL ID.
In October, ICE and authorities in Oklahoma busted 91 illegals with CDLs. Crimes of which they were accused included driving under the influence, of course, along with assault, drug crimes, money laundering, and human smuggling.
One of the illegals carried a CDL from New York in which the surname was “No Name Given.”
Such is the number of illegal-alien truck drivers that even terrorists are hauling freight.
On November 9 in Kansas, ICE collared Akhror Bozorov, 31, an illegal from Uzbekistan. Authorities in that nation wanted him for membership in a terror outfit. They accused him “of distributing terrorist propaganda calling for jihad online and recruiting terrorists to join the jihad movement,” DHS reported.
Bozorov crossed the border illegally at the right time, in February 2023, when Biden “migrants” were crossing by the hundreds of thousands monthly. Border authorities caught him and released him.
Bozorov had a CDL from Pennsylvania.
