ICE Responds to Ilhan Omar’s Claim That Her Son Was Pulled Over — ‘Shameful’

The head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement is flatly rejecting a viral claim from Rep. Ilhan Omar, calling her account a fiction with no evidence to back it up.

Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, told a local CBS affiliate that ICE agents stopped her son over the weekend after visiting a Target store — an encounter she likened to a traffic stop — before being released after showing proof of U.S. citizenship.

ICE says that never happened.

“ICE has absolutely zero record of its officers or agents pulling over Congresswoman Omar’s son,” Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons told Fox News Digital.

“It speaks volumes that Congresswoman Omar is leveling this accusation with absolutely zero proof.”

Lyons blasted Omar’s comments as a “ridiculous effort” to demonize federal law enforcement and warned that rhetoric like hers has real-world consequences.

He pointed to what he described as a surge in violence and threats against ICE personnel, citing a 1,150% increase in assaults and an 8,000% increase in death threats.

Omar, who has three children, said her son was running an errand when ICE allegedly made contact and questioned him before letting him go.

Despite the agency’s denial, Omar is standing her ground.

Her spokesperson, Jacklyn Rogers, told Fox News Digital that the congresswoman stands by her account of the incident.

The official DHS X account also responded to Omar’s claim, calling it “shameful.”

“ICE has absolutely ZERO record of its officers or agents pulling over Congresswoman Omar’s son. With no evidence, it is shameful that Congresswoman Omar would level accusations to demonize ICE as part of a PR stunt. Allegations that ICE engages in ‘racial profiling’ are disgusting, reckless and categorically FALSE. What makes someone a target for immigration enforcement is if they are illegally in the U.S.—NOT their skin color, race, or ethnicity. Under the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, DHS law enforcement uses “reasonable suspicion” to make arrests.”
