Brown University Shooting Investigators Share More Photos, Widen Search: Report

According to a New York Post report, Providence police are widening the dragnet in the hunt for the at-large Brown University gunman who murdered two students and wounded seven others — and now they want the public’s help identifying a person seen close to the suspect.

“Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying and speaking to the individual shown in these photos who was in proximity of the person of interest,” the Providence Police Department wrote on X, releasing new surveillance images.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact the tip line at 401-272-3121.”

The grainy footage shows an unidentified individual wearing a blue jacket with a green hood, dark pants, and carrying what appears to be a light-colored satchel slung over their right shoulder.

Authorities say the individual appears to be the same person previously spotted in surveillance footage released by FBI Boston, which showed the suspect walking along a suburban Providence street less than two hours before the shooting.

In that earlier video, the suspect appears to look to his right, notice the backpack-wearing individual, and then break into a sprint down a side street at 2:16 p.m. on Dec. 13 — a moment investigators now believe could be critical.
