White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt pushed back Friday against media coverage of the ICE-involved shooting in Minneapolis, insisting the ICE agent “properly defended himself.”
In a post on X, Leavitt reacted to newly-released video footage of the incident, saying the agent has been smeared after firing on Renee Nicole Good, 37, who allegedly drove a vehicle toward him.
“The media smeared an ICE Agent who properly defended himself from being run over by organized leftist protesters who were impeding an active law enforcement operation,” Leavitt wrote.
She argued intentional misrepresentation is exactly why trust in the press keeps collapsing — and she accused outlets of pushing a Democratic Party narrative.
“That’s exactly what they did in this case in Minnesota,” she added, pointing to a video she says supports the agent’s actions.
Her message lands as Republicans circle the wagons around the agent’s use of force and Democrats continue to demonize federal officers.
