The U.S. taxpayer gravy train that Somali invaders have been riding since 1991 is about to end.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has said Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somalis ends March 17, its expiry after the last extension on September 18, 2024.
The designation means that more than 700 Somalis should be deported if they don’t voluntarily leave the country by the deadline. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services told them to leave or face deportation.
Noem moved to boot the Somalis out after weeks of reports about Somali fraudsters in Minnesota, and as GOP U.S. Senator Ted Budd and others introduced a bill to denaturalize immigrant fraudsters.
34 Years of “Temporary” Status
TPS permits foreigners who somehow made it to the United States if the secretary of homeland security declares their country unsafe. In removing TPS from the Somalis, which number as many as 2,000, some news reports say, Noem found that the country is no longer unsafe. TPS holders can return without fear of persecution or violence.
“Requiring Somali nationals to return to Somalia would not pose a serious threat to their personal safety as there are areas within Somalia where Somali nationals may live in safety,” the soon-to-be-published notice says:
For example, Somaliland, a territory in the north of Somalia, “has widely been seen as an “oasis” for stability in a turbulent region.” Additionally, Puntland, an autonomous state, was described in early 2024 as “a destination for many Somalis displaced by violence in the south.” U.S. Somalia policy historically has recognized the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia within its 1960 borders which includes Somaliland, Puntland, and Jubaland as part of its “One Somalia” policy. Additionally, clan ties play a significant role in life and society in Somalia and Somaliland and Puntland are no exception. Somaliland is home to several clans and minority groups.
While acknowledging that conditions in the backwater West African nation are far from ideal, notably because of al Shabaab terrorists, Noem said the World Bank has declared ”significant progress in recent years, consolidating its federal system of governance, strengthening capacity of government institutions and supporting inclusive private sector-led growth, while leveraging the momentum created by the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative.”
As well, capital Mogadishu is “experiencing a transformative ‘building boom.’”
“More than 6,000 buildings have been constructed, marking a significant change in the city’s landscape,” Noem explained:
Further, “[s]ecurity in Mogadishu has improved, leading to an increase in high-rise and commercial buildings,” says Salah Hassan Omar, the mayor’s spokesperson.” These recent developments in Somalia underscore the progress made across multiple sectors and demonstrates the country’s commitment to addressing challenges and fostering growth.
But Noem also detailed the history of open-borders incompetence of presidential administrations going back to George H.W. Bush. The TPS madness has continued since the first designation on September 16, 1991. Since then, TPS has been extended 27 times.
“Temporary means temporary,” Noem wrote on X:
Country conditions in Somalia have improved to the point that it no longer meets the law’s requirement for Temporary Protected Status.
Allowing Somali nationals to remain temporarily in the United States is contrary to our national interests.
We are putting Americans first.
“TPS for Somalis has ended,” U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services explained:

USCIS also encouraged the foreigners to report their departure using the CBP Home app.
DHS told the Somalis to go home by the deadline or face deportation.
Fraud Bill
The designation comes after weeks of reports about the magnitude of Somali welfare and other fraud in Minnesota. Investigators and journalists have uncovered billions in federal food and housing aid fraud, along with more stolen from the Small Business Administration. A federal prosecutor has called the crimes “industrial scale” fraud.
Aside from that, the vast majority of Somalis collect some form of welfare.
GOP House Majority Whip Tom Emmer of Minnesota called for the fraudsters to be denaturalized and deported, and now GOP Senators Ted Budd of North Carolina, Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, and Buddy Carter of Georgia have obliged with legislation.
The Fraud Act, Budd’s office reported, will “amend the [Immigration and Nationality Act] to explicitly add any crime of fraud — of any amount — committed against private individuals, funds, corporations, or government entities as a deportable offense; and revoke the naturalization of those who commit a crime of fraud or any other deportable offense.”
In October, USCIS also disclosed that Somalis in Minnesota have perpetrated major immigration fraud. Of the cases that USCIS investigated, 50 percent involved fraud.
