The warning lights are flashing in the desert.
Some personnel at the U.S.’ largest military base in the Middle East have been urged to leave, a U.S. official told CNN on Wednesday, as the Trump administration weighs military action against Iran.
The official called the directive a “precaution” amid rising regional tensions.
The personnel are at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Iran targeted the base in June after the U.S. struck Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Now, as President Donald Trump mulls potential strikes on Iran, the base — home to around 10,000 American troops — could face renewed risk.
The U.S. also took steps to evacuate the base in June during the Israel-Iran war, before it struck Iran’s nuclear facilities.
And, according to Fox News, multiple bases are withdrawing personnel.
