The Minneapolis ICE shooting just got a grim new detail — straight from DHS.
The immigration officer who fatally shot Minneapolis anti-ICE protester Renee Nicole Good suffered internal bleeding after being clipped during the confrontation, a Department of Homeland Security official told The New York Post.
The agent, identified as veteran ICE officer Jonathan Ross, suffered bleeding to his torso, the DHS official said.
The extent of the internal bleeding was not immediately clear. But Ross was hospitalized after the incident and released later that day, according to the report.
He was also able to walk away from the scene, according to video captured after the shooting.
The Trump administration has defended Ross’s decision to open fire, claiming Good “weaponized” her SUV against the officer and hit him. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the day of the shooting that Ross followed his training.
“He went to the hospital, a doctor did treat him, he has been released, but he’s gonna spend some time with his family,” Noem said.
Democrats and left-wing activists have argued deadly force wasn’t necessary — and the case has sparked another wave of protests aimed at ICE and the broader enforcement surge.
Good was with her wife during the encounter, with footage showing her spouse yelling at her to drive away.
As another ICE officer told Good to get out of her vehicle, spouse Rebecca Good shouted, “Drive, baby, drive, drive,” according to footage captured on Ross’ phone.
