Rep. Investigated by DOJ, Congress Over Net worth, Trump Says

President Trump confirmed Monday that the Justice Department and Congress are investigating Rep. Ilhan Omar’s reported spike in net worth — after The New York Post reported House Republicans were weighing a closer look at the Minnesota Democrat and her investor husband’s finances.

Trump, who has previously called for Omar to be jailed or deported to her birth country of Somalia, revealed the inquiries after dispatching border czar Tom Homan to Minnesota following Saturday’s fatal shooting of ICU nurse Alex Pretti by a federal immigration officer.

Trump, 79, said the state was already under scrutiny for “welfare fraud.” He then pointed the spotlight at Omar, saying she “left Somalia with NOTHING” and is now worth tens of millions of dollars, citing her congressional financial disclosures.

Omar, 43, shot back on X. “Sorry, Trump, your support is collapsing and you’re panicking,” she wrote.

“Right on cue, you’re deflecting from your failures with lies and conspiracy theories about me. Years of ‘investigations’ have found nothing,” she added. “Get your goons out of Minnesota.”

House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) previously told The Post his committee was considering a subpoena for Omar and her husband, Tim Mynett, who jointly own their businesses.

Comer said he expects a court fight, as Oversight investigators try to explain what he called a “big spike” in the far-left lawmaker’s assets.

Mynett’s investment firm, Rose Lake Capital, had just $42.44 in its bank account as of 2022, according to court filings tied to a South Dakota lawsuit involving a related company.

But Omar’s 2024 House financial disclosures list Rose Lake Capital as worth up to $25 million.

Omar has not disclosed a personal ownership stake in the firm. Spouses’ assets, however, must be listed in congressional disclosures.

Additional filings tied to Mynett’s other business ventures — including a winery and pot farm that he has since abandoned — put the couple’s estimated net worth between $6 million and $30 million.

“Somebody’s going to find out,” Comer said of the rising asset values. “It’s either going to be my committee or the Ethics Committee.”

One way or another, the fight is heading straight for the subpoena stage.
