Even the mayor isn’t safe in San Fran…
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie’s police security detail was attacked Thursday evening near the edge of the city’s Tenderloin district, leaving an officer bleeding from the back of his head.
The mayor was not injured in the incident, which unfolded shortly before 6 p.m. near Cedar Street, according to Mission Local.
One San Francisco Police Department officer assigned to Lurie’s protective detail was left panting and bleeding after striking his head during a struggle with a suspect.
Lurie had been riding in a black SUV with the officer and a driver — also a police officer — when three people allegedly blocked the vehicle in the street.
The mayor got out of the SUV and asked the group to move, the injured officer later told responding police.
At first, the trio appeared to comply. But the situation escalated when one of the men began “talking gibberish,” according to the officer.
When the officer stepped in and ordered the man to move along, the suspect initially backed off before suddenly charging at him.
The officer grabbed the man’s upper body, but the two fell to the ground during the struggle. The officer fell backward and struck his head on the pavement, leaving him bleeding.
At the same time, Lurie’s driver — also a police officer — was confronting another man at the scene.
That officer did not appear to be injured.
It remains unclear whether the second man assaulted anyone, and the role of a third person mentioned by police has not yet been fully explained.
The suspected attacker was handcuffed at the scene and repeatedly shouted, “F–k you!” as officers arrested him. A second suspect attempted to flee but was caught by police a short distance away.
More than a dozen officers responded to the scene, flooding the block and surrounding the suspects as they lay in handcuffs on the street.
Lurie remained nearby. He was criticized on social media for casually walking away from the brawl.

Mere feet from San Francisco’s mayor Daniel Lurie, several men block the mayor’s SUV, one body-slams the security detail. Mayor unhurt but just might be the wake-up call he needs to see with his own eyes the city he leads isn’t as safe he says it is.
