Pope Leo XIV to accept U.S. Liberty Medal on eve of July 4th

The National Constitution Center announced on Monday that the first U.S.-born Pope will receive the Liberty Medal during a public ceremony on July 3 outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were signed. His acceptance remarks will be delivered via a video link and streamed as part of the celebration. Organizers said the Pope’s emphasis on religious liberty closely aligns with the protections guaranteed by the First Amendment.
