For decades, the abortion industry has lied to America.
They’ve told us that abortion is healthcare, that abortion is about women’s rights, that the unborn are not human, and that abortion drugs are perfectly safe.
But consider the stories survivors of this deadly drug shared last week during a press conference on Capitol Hill hosted by Senator Josh Hawley:
“I was [in a] medically induced coma for a month… Eventually, the damage was so extensive that doctors had no choice but to perform a partial hysterectomy… I was scared and pressured by my boyfriend to end my child’s life. In that process, I almost lost my life as well.” -Shanyce Thomas
“As someone who’s been deceived by big abortion, I’m here to say that young people like me, young, scared moms and dads, deserve the truth. And the truth is, the abortion pill is not simple, and the abortion pill is not safe.” – Rebekah Hagan

“I would hear infants crying in the trash cans when I walked by them. I would hear infants crying in the toilet. I was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, which I still suffer from to this day. This is not safe. This is not easy.” – Elizabeth Gillette, after taking the abortion drug.
These women believed the abortion industry’s lies, and sadly, so have millions of others throughout the nation.
Now that abortion providers have adopted an “Amazon-style” approach, abortion drugs are being shipped directly to doorsteps across America and even into states where unborn life is protected.
In the face of this crisis, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has done nothing, despite promising a forthcoming review of the drug.
Thankfully, brave men and women like Senator Josh Hawley and Representative Diana Harshbarger are stepping up.
Last week, these bold lawmakers unveiled new legislation specifically designed to circumvent the FDA’s inaction and remove these “kill pills” from circulation.
FRC strongly supports these efforts and will continue working closely with members of Congress to champion solutions to this pressing issue. This isn’t just about protecting women’s health — it is about stopping the slaughter of unborn lives made in the image of God.
Through resources carefully crafted by our policy experts like Mifepristone: The Abortion Industry’s Backup Plan to Roe, and Mifepristone’s Deadly History: Abortion Drug-Related Events from 2000 to Now, we are arming lawmakers with the facts and urging them to act. Your support today ensures that we can continue building momentum on Capitol Hill to stop the bloodshed.

While leaders in Washington are beginning to take action, in the meantime, this terrible drug is flooding across state lines and into college campuses.
Earlier this month, the University of Oregon announced it will begin offering abortion drugs directly to students through its on-campus health center — caving to pressure from left-wing activist groups like Young Democratic Socialists of America.
This is exactly the environment where frightened young women are most vulnerable — far from home, under pressure, and often told that abortion is their only option. Unfortunately, they have no idea the immeasurable harm it will cause.
As Senator Hawley told Tony on Washington Watch last week, “This drug is inherently dangerous. It is inherently prone to abuse… more than 1 in 10 women who take this drug, end up in the emergency room with [a] potentially life-threatening event on their hands.”
FRC has been sounding the alarm about this danger for nearly two decades. As far back as 2007, our policy experts warned lawmakers about the deadly consequences of this drug’s approval.
And we are continuing to take action. Just last month, FRC filed an amicus brief in support of Louisiana’s lawsuit against the FDA. From working with leaders and coalition partners across the country, to supporting legislation, legal action, and grassroots advocacy at both the state and federal levels, it is our mission to ensure these dangerous abortion drugs are no longer an option.
But we cannot do it alone.
With your support, we can continue exposing the truth, equipping lawmakers, and defending both women and unborn children from the abortion industry’s deception.
The testimonies of women who were deceived and abused were heartbreaking. Two women nearly fainted. This is what happens when spiritual darkness reigns.
Thankfully, the truth is starting to come out.
When believers shine the light of God’s Word on the works of evil, the darkness can do nothing but retreat. But we have to take action.
As the Apostle Paul warned us, “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them…. Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:11;15-16).
At Family Research Council, we will continue to expose the wickedness of the abortion industry and stop the drugs that are harming women and children.
Together, we can make a difference for the unborn.
