Glenn Beck Warns: Islamist Ideology Is a Clear and Present Danger

Here’s a good question:

What’s the point in sending the military to the Mideast to defend the West while also bringing the Mideast to the West?

One man who may nod approvingly at this question is commentator Glenn Beck. After all, in 1999 he predicted blood in Manhattan’s streets within 10 years — authored by Osama bin Laden. And now he’s again warning of a “green-red alliance” of Muslim jihadists and Marxist extremists working “hand in hand.” Oh, they are those strange bedfellows politics will make, as they have a shared goal.

Both groups aim to destroy the West.

In warning of a “global caliphate” (i.e., Muslim-ruled realm), Beck echoed a prediction late Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi made in 2006:

We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe — without swords, without guns, without conquest — will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades.

While Gadhafi’s numbers were a bit off, his prognostication is shared by many. For example, German ex-intelligence chief Hans-Georg Maaßen warned in 2024 that “Europe will succumb to Islam.” He mentioned the green-red alliance himself, too. He stated, essentially, that the governing pseudo-elites could stop this Islamization process if they wanted to. But they don’t want to. The reason?

Our “politicians want a different population,” he explained.

Vive la Différence?

It already is different to an extent, too. Current events bear this out.

“Germany belongs to us Muslims,” a radical “German” Muslim recently said in a video.

“You lost your cultural heritage long ago.”

That’s hard to argue against. Speaking of which …

A Church of England primary school recently had “children engage in Islamic prayer.” (Illustrative six-second video below.)

Speaking of which …

Certain local governments in Britain have cautioned schools against pursuing activities offensive to Muslims. “Children’s drawings could be considered blasphemous,” the Daily Mail explained. And “music and dance lessons could contravene the teachings of Islam.”

And speaking of which … headline:

“Belgium: ‘Journalists’ happily smash statues of Jesus and Mary, explain they’d never disrespect Muhammad.” (Video below.)

These are not merely cherry-picked extreme cases, either. Rather, they’re part of a trend enabled by a West “slouching towards Gomorrah” and godlessness. Part of this, too, is a relativism that blinds people to a certain reality: Demography is destiny.

Doesn’t Come Out of Nowhere

For while “politics is downstream from culture,” as the late Andrew Breitbart famously put it, culture is downstream from demography. And, of course, demography is itself partially to greatly downstream from (im)migration.

Many Westerners have for too long ignored the above realities. Too many suppose that, over time, assimilation will carry the day. But how can we square this belief with research showing that young Muslims in Europe are actually more radical than their elders?

Many Westerners also embrace the relativism-fueled notion that “all religions are basically equal.”

But how can we square this with other research? It shows that while increasing religiosity makes Christian youths less violent, it makes Muslim youths more violent.

Could it be that not all religiosity is created equal?

Many conclusions can be drawn from this. Regarding immigration proposals, for example, relevant questions must be asked.

What are a given group’s consensus beliefs? What is its sense of virtue? Will its members likely adopt the American ideal? Are they, and this is a key word, assimilable?

Pro tip: The answer to the third and fourth questions is sometimes “no” (and is other times “No!”)

There are many cautionary tales about the consequences of ignoring the above. Consider Lebanon’s plight, for instance. As the Middle East Forum (MEF) told us last year:

The Wall Street Journal wrote this week: “In the 1930s, when Lebanon held its last official census, Christians were the majority of the population. Now polls show they are a third, equal to Shia and Sunni Muslims.”

Where did all the Christians go? They fled.

After World War II, Lebanon was a wealthy country thanks to its banks and commerce, a peaceful, multiethnic, multireligious nation under a Christian majority.

… Then Islamic birthrates grew, armed Arab Palestinian immigration arrived, Saudi and Iranian money flowed in, Hezbollah rose.

The MEF also mentioned that in 1989, Lebanon “regularized half a million Muslim Arabs, losing its Christian and French cultural and religious identity.” And what were the fruits of this diversity? Well, today in once-functional Lebanon, the MEF explains, the

president no longer matters, parliament is a farce, the army is infiltrated, and Christians who can leave take the first plane to Montreal or Sydney.

Where We Are Now

How many other cautionary tales exist? Well, note here that by the 400s A.D., the dominant religion in the Mideast and North Africa was Christianity. You can guess what happened.

In fact, “what happened” is why the defensive actions now known as the “Crusades” were launched.

And where do we stand today? Is the West on the Lebanon-North Africa trajectory? Commentator Raymond Ibrahim has some idea. As he wrote in 2024, we are witnessing

disturbing demographic changes. According to conservative estimates from Pew Research, over the next 25 years — meaning most of the current generation’s lifetime — Europe’s Muslim population will triple to a staggering 76 million. In fact, the actual current and future numbers of Muslims appear to be higher, though there are no official tallies. For example, in an earlier, 2011 study, Pew Research found that “The number of Muslims in Europe has grown from 29.6 million in 1990 to 44.1 million in 2010. Europe’s Muslim population is projected to exceed 58 million by 2030.” Clearly 58 million in five years’ time is more significant than 76 million in 25 years’ time.

Not only is mass migration responsible for Islam’s exponential growth in Europe, but once there, the average Muslim woman has significantly more children than the average European woman. “Muhammad” is taking West Europe by storm as the number one name for newborn baby boys.

Also having some idea is Sheikh Muhammad Tim Humble, a not-so-humble British convert to, and now teacher of, Islam. He said that Islam’s goal is to “wipe out all other religions” (video below).

As for the Left, it appears fine with this. Leftists want the Islamist vote and hate the West. They’re also motivated by the “enemy of my enemy is my friend” principle. They think, too — insofar as they are thinking — that they’ll be able to control the forces they’ve unleashed once Western culture is vanquished. They may learn only too late that they were sorely and irrevocably mistaken.
