7-month-old baby shot and killed in Brooklyn stroller as NYPD hunts moped suspects

A 7-month-old baby girl was shot and killed in broad daylight while sitting in her stroller in Brooklyn, as police launched a manhunt for two suspects who fled the scene on a moped.

The infant was with her parents near Humboldt and Moore streets when gunfire erupted early in the afternoon. The suspected shooters sped off moments later, according to law enforcement sources.

The child was struck by a stray bullet. Authorities say she was not the intended target, though it remains unclear whether the gunmen were aiming at her parents or others nearby.

Her mother rushed the baby into a nearby bodega after hearing the shots. Inside, she realized her daughter had been hit.

Emergency responders transported the infant to Woodhull Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:46 p.m.

Witness Vincent Valcissel, 63, described the chaos in the moments after the shooting.

“I was in the supermarket and coming out with my sandwich. I heard a commotion and a shot. Once you hear shots in the air, you duck. I saw a girl on the floor with her baby,” he said.

“It happened so fast like a movie.”

Police are now searching for two suspects believed to have carried out the shooting before fleeing on a moped. No arrests have been made.

The killing adds to growing concerns over stray-bullet violence in New York City, where innocent bystanders continue to be caught in gunfire.
