This week, Planned Parenthood released its 2025 annual report. In recent years, these reports have taken on additional significance. That is because congressional Republicans have demonstrated their willingness to stop federal taxpayer dollars from going to Planned Parenthood. Indeed, this year’s report should bolster pro-life efforts to defund Planned Parenthood for the upcoming fiscal year. That is because, once again, this report provides very solid evidence that Planned Parenthood continues to prioritize abortion at the expense of real health-care services.
Overall, this new report shows that Planned Parenthood performed 434,450 abortions in 2024. This is an 8 percent increase over the previous year — and represents an all-time high number for them. Overall, Planned Parenthood performs almost 39 percent of the abortions that take place in the United States.

The report also indicates that Planned Parenthood continues to cut back on various health services. Between 2023 and 2024, preventative care visits fell by 3.2 percent, pap tests fell by 2.5 percent, and cancer screenings fell by 8.6 percent. Though Planned Parenthood did report an increase in adoption referrals in 2024, it should be noted that for every adoption referral that took place in 2024, Planned Parenthood still performed over 143 abortions.
All of this is consistent with Planned Parenthood’s long-term trend of performing more abortions and providing fewer health services. In fact, during the past ten years, the number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood has increased by over 34 percent. Meanwhile, cancer screenings fell by more than 42 percent and prenatal services declined by more than 55 percent during the same time period.
Although Planned Parenthood cut back on several health services, it continues to receive increases in government funding. The report indicates that in fiscal 2025, Planned Parenthood received $832.0 million in government grants and reimbursements. This is a 5.0 percent increase from fiscal 2024. It should be noted that these funding figures do not reflect the results of last year’s defunding — which took effect as of fiscal 2026.
Last year, President Trump and congressional Republicans achieved their long time policy goal of defunding Planned Parenthood. Defunding the abortion industry has always been a wise strategy for pro-lifers. Planned Parenthood consistently receives nearly 40 percent of its budget from taxpayer funds. As such, it was unsurprising that since last summer, approximately 50 Planned Parenthood facilities have ceased operations.
With Republicans controlling the White House and both houses of Congress, pro-lifers have a real opportunity to defund Planned Parenthood in fiscal 2027. However, Planned Parenthood and their allies in the media and the Democratic Party will certainly fight aggressively to restore their federal funding. President Trump’s recently released 2027 budget proposal calls for the defunding of Planned Parenthood. That is a good start. Let’s hope this report gives the congressional Republicans the ammunition they need to continue to defund Planned Parenthood for the next fiscal year.
