DNC Deletes Memorial Day Post Blaming Trump for Deaths in Iran Conflict After Backlash

The Democratic National Committee found itself under fire Monday after posting — and later deleting — a Memorial Day message that used the deaths of American service members to criticize President Donald Trump’s handling of the Iran conflict.

The now-deleted post from the DNC’s official X account featured images of 13 fallen U.S. service members alongside the caption: “Today, we honor the American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in Trump’s war with Iran.”

The graphic also read: “Remembering the Americans who have died in Trump’s war with Iran.”

The post quickly sparked criticism across social media, with many users arguing that Memorial Day should be reserved for honoring fallen military personnel rather than advancing partisan political messages.

Hours after it was published, the DNC removed the post.

One of the most notable rebukes came from Tammy Duckworth, a Democratic senator and Iraq War veteran.

“It is incredibly distasteful to use our heroic dead for a political attack on Memorial Day,” Duckworth wrote. “I’m a Democrat and I condemn this post by the DNC.”

Republicans and conservative commentators also seized on the controversy.

Arizona congressional candidate and former NFL kicker Jay Feely called the message “absolutely disgraceful.”

“Politicizing the sacrifice of American soldiers on Memorial Day… Absolutely disgraceful,” Feely wrote. “Despicable post from the Democrats.”

Others questioned how the message made it through the party’s communications operation.

“This isn’t just an infuriatingly bad post. It’s deeply unsettling,” X user Tali Goldsheft wrote. “We can stand up against his problematic policies. And we should. Using American soldiers’ deaths to score points against Trump on Memorial Day, though? Who approved this?”

The controversy erupted as Memorial Day ceremonies took place across the country honoring Americans who died in military service.

While Democrats and Republicans have continued to spar over the administration’s handling of the Iran conflict, critics argued that the holiday’s focus should remain on remembering the nation’s fallen warriors rather than partisan political battles.
