Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem warned Thursday that northern Israel would remain under threat as long as Israeli military strikes continue targeting Lebanese villages, escalating fears that efforts to contain the widening regional conflict could unravel.
Qassem said Hezbollah would continue applying military pressure while Lebanese territory remained under attack.
“As long as the occupation exists, the resistance will continue,” Qassem said in a written statement.

According to Reuters, the Hezbollah leader warned that northern Israel would not be safe while Lebanese civilians continued being killed and villages bombed by Israeli forces.
The comments came as fighting across the Israel-Lebanon border intensified despite ongoing U.S.-mediated ceasefire efforts aimed at preventing the conflict from spiraling into a broader regional war.
Earlier this week, the United States announced that Lebanon and Israel had agreed to implement a ceasefire framework contingent on Hezbollah halting attacks and withdrawing fighters from areas near the border.
But Hezbollah — which is not formally part of the negotiations — rejected the proposal outright.

Qassem blasted the U.S.-backed plan as “a roadmap for the annihilation of a section of the Lebanese people and the enslavement of the rest,” signaling the Iran-backed group has little interest in standing down under the current terms.
The rejection injected fresh uncertainty into diplomatic efforts already strained by continued Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon and Hezbollah rocket and drone attacks targeting northern Israel.
Israeli officials have maintained that military operations against Hezbollah positions will continue as long as threats against Israeli territory persist.
Hezbollah, meanwhile, has repeatedly linked its attacks on northern Israel to ongoing Israeli military activity inside Lebanon.
Tensions appeared to remain high Thursday after sirens sounded in the northern Israeli community of Hanita over what the Israeli military described as a suspected hostile aircraft infiltration.
