Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Sues Trump for Ending Title X Grants

Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the nation’s largest abortion business, sued the Trump administration Tuesday after it announced that this is the last year the Planned Parenthood abortion business will receive Title X grants. 

Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the nation’s largest abortion business, sued the Trump administration Tuesday over changes to the federal Title X family planning grant program that pro-life advocates say will finally end taxpayer support for the abortion business.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on behalf of Planned Parenthood members, challenges the Department of Health and Human Services’ revised notice of funding opportunity for the 2027-2032 grant cycle. It names HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Assistant Secretary for Health Brian Christine, and Office of Population Affairs Deputy Director Amy L. Margolis as defendants.

Title X provides grants for contraception, pregnancy testing, STI screenings and other family planning services for lower-income patients. Federal law bars the funds from being used for abortions.

But pro-life groups have long contended that awarding the grants to Planned Parenthood and similar abortion corporations still subsidizes the abortion industry by freeing other revenue for abortions.

In March, White House spokesman Kush Desai confirmed that 2026 would be the final year of Biden-era Title X grants to Planned Parenthood.

“The administration has issued the fifth and final year of Title X grants that were locked in place during the Biden presidency,” Desai said. “The administration faced significant legal challenges in stopping any of these dollars from going out.”

Desai added that Title X funds “cannot be used for abortions by law and, consistent with President Trump’s Executive Order on Enforcing the Hyde Amendment, the Administration remains committed to realigning the Title X program with the President’s pro-life and pro-family agenda going forward.”

The new funding priorities emphasize family formation, healthy pregnancies and natural family planning methods such as fertility tracking, while screening applicants for alignment with administration policies.

Planned Parenthood’s complaint argues the changes require applicants “to align with certain political positions such as favoring fertility tracking over contraceptives” and are “based on HHS’s current political and ideological preferences” rather than the program’s statutory purpose.

Thirty-two Planned Parenthood members currently participate in Title X, operating more than 240 abortion centers in 29 states.

The suit is brought on behalf of several affiliates that plan to apply for the next grant cycle.
