Trump Uses Mamdani Grocery Plan to Demand Voter ID

President Trump turned Big Apple Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s reported grocery-store identification rule into a devastating voter-ID punchline.

During a White House exchange Monday, a reporter told Trump that Mamdani was requiring identification to access his proposed government-run grocery stores.

Trump immediately spotted the irony.

“I wish they’d have an ID to access the voting booth! You know, they don’t want to access the voting booth with any identification,” Trump said. “We want voter ID, and we want proof of citizenship!”
