President Trump is heading to Long Island on Friday with a powerful midterm message: America is getting safer on his watch.
New FBI data will show the largest one-year decline in violent crime ever recorded, according to a White House official briefed on the finalized 2025 report.
The national murder rate plunged 18.1% from the previous year, the official said.

Robbery dropped 18.5%, rape declined 7.6% and aggravated assault fell 7.2%.
Property crime also moved sharply downward. Motor vehicle theft decreased 22.7%, while burglary fell 15.8%.
The FBI is expected to publish the complete 2025 Crime Statistics Report later Friday, providing the final underlying figures and methodology behind the White House’s announcement.
Trump will visit the Nassau County Police Academy in Garden City with Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, the Republican candidate for New York governor. Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel are expected to join the president for a news conference detailing the results.
“President Trump promised to make America safe again and the data proves he has done just that,” White House spokesperson Lauren Bis said.
“Unlike Defund-the-Police Democrats, President Trump will always stand with our law enforcement officers and deliver safer American neighborhoods.”
The White House says violent crime recorded its largest annual decline ever in 2025 — the administration is pointing to the FBI numbers as a signature achievement.
Murder fell 18.1% and robbery dropped 18.5% — double-digit declines across the two categories that most directly reflect public safety.
Motor vehicle theft dropped 22.7% and burglary declined 15.8% — property crime numbers reinforcing the broader trend across the board.
Trump will discuss the FBI report Friday at the Nassau County Police Academy — a deliberate setting that frames the numbers as a law enforcement win.
Since returning to office in January 2025, Trump has pursued an aggressive law-and-order agenda combining immigration enforcement, federal policing initiatives and National Guard deployments in several cities.
Those tactics have generated intense political opposition, including disputes over federal enforcement operations in Minneapolis and the use of Guard personnel in major cities.
The administration argues that the broader crime numbers validate its approach.
Murders, robberies, rapes, assaults, burglaries and car thefts all fell. Trump is now taking those numbers directly to voters as evidence that his promise to restore law and order is producing historic results.
