Vote for ‘Real Dan Sullivan’

President Trump has a simple message for Alaska voters: Check the middle initial.

Trump warned Republicans Tuesday to support incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan and avoid confusing him with primary challenger Dan J. Sullivan, whom the president accused Democrats of placing on the ballot as a political decoy.

“ALASKA: Be careful, VOTE FOR THE REAL DAN SULLIVAN TODAY,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Dan S. Sullivan, the Republican incumbent, is seeking a third Senate term.

Dan J. Sullivan is a retired fifth-grade teacher who describes himself as a pragmatic Republican.

Trump is not buying it.

“The Dumocrats know how good he is and have put up an imposter of the same name,” the president wrote. “Vote for the ‘INCUMBENT SENATOR.’ Don’t let these Fraudsters get away with this HOAX.”

Trump also credited the senator with helping deliver “HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS” to Alaska during his time in office.

The president first sounded the alarm Friday, accusing Democrats of using “trickery” to confuse primary voters.

He gave supporters explicit instructions for identifying his endorsed candidate on the ballot: “SULLIVAN, DAN S. — REGISTERED REPUBLICAN/INCUMBENT.”

The Alaska Democratic Party and former Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola’s campaign deny any involvement in Dan J. Sullivan’s candidacy. Peltola is considered the incumbent senator’s leading Democratic challenger.

Republicans have nevertheless raised questions about the retired teacher’s political operation.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee pointed to campaign adviser Amber Lee and representative Alan Harris as evidence of ties to Democrats.

Harris previously appeared in an advertisement attacking Sen. Dan S. Sullivan, produced by Majority Forward, a nonprofit affiliated with the Democrat-aligned Senate Majority PAC.

But Trump is taking no chances with two nearly identical names on the same ballot.

In Alaska’s Senate primary, he says one letter separates the incumbent from an imposter.

Vote for Dan S.
