Every Pro-Life American Needs to Get Out and Vote Pro-Life

I was driving into work this morning, listening to Focus on the Family, when FOTF Vice President Tim Goeglein quoted the late, great pro-life Representative Jack Kemp. Goeglein said that Kemp (a former quarterback for the Buffalo Bills) was fond of saying “The only way to oppose a bad idea is to replace it with a good idea.”

Goeglein, who served as Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison for President George W. Bush, was encouraging parents, especially on this our nation’s 250^th birthday, “to cultivate within their children an appreciation for our nation’s great heritage and a desire to participate actively in civic affairs.” His point was that in many ways, we have lost our way, forgetting—or ignoring—what in years past made us so proud to be Americans.

Remembering the sacrifices our forebearers is a good–make that a great–idea if ever there was one.

Participating “actively in civic affairs” does not mean only voting. There are many other tasks we can undertake to help the unborn, but going to the polls is, in my estimation, the most important.

Pro-abortion Democrats are like hungry wolves. If they sense weakness, they will go for the throat. Why bare your neck by sitting out a crucial election?

Consider this: Democrats need only net out a handful of seats in both the House and Senate, and we will be exclusively playing defense for the next two years.

Granted, it is difficult for staunch pro-lifers to believe that there could be anyone who holds a pro-life position who won’t vote for pro-life candidates come November 3. How could that be?

There are loads of excuses and even a couple that come close to qualifying as a “reason.” But in the final analysis they come down to a lack of awareness where candidates stand; being talked into believing that while abortion is very important, there are many important issues; a sense that any one candidate can’t make THE difference; or a purity test– the pro-life candidate is not “sufficiently pro-life”– even when her/his opponent is an unapologetic abortion-on-demand-without-apologies man or woman.

But your vote does count. After the 2024 elections, The Washington Examiner wrote an article headlined “The 10 congressional races in history with the slimmest margins of victory.”

Many of these “nail-biter elections have occurred in the last two decades,” Cami Mondeaux tells us, including two congressional races decided by 4 and 6 votes, respectively!

The obituary for the Pro-Life Movement has been written so often, were it composed on paper, instead of in pixels, it would be frayed at the corners…and the middle…and everywhere else.

It’s mostly written by the usual suspects, what Byron York of the Washington Examiner (in a different but similar context) calls “groupthink journalists and Democrats who [are] eager for partisan advantage.”

I, for one, will not sit this election out. The prospects of ravenous pro-abortion Democrats seizing control is too terrible to contemplate.
