Could New York go red?
Bruce Blakeman’s campaign says New York’s governor’s race is much tighter than many expected.
A new McLaughlin & Associates poll conducted for the Republican challenger shows Gov. Kathy Hochul leading Blakeman 49.6% to 45.7% among likely voters — a margin of roughly four points.

Another 4.7% were undecided.
The poll surveyed 800 likely voters from Aug. 27 through Aug. 31.
According to the McLaughlin survey, 55% viewed Hochul unfavorably, while 56% said it was time to give someone else a chance.
Blakeman’s problem is visibility.
About 30% of likely voters said they either had never heard of him or did not yet have an opinion of him, leaving the Nassau County executive with substantial ground to cover before Election Day.
The race also remains heavily divided by geography, with Hochul strongest in New York City and Blakeman performing better in the suburbs and upstate.
