Josh Shapiro Has Promoted Abortion 235 Times, Adoption 0 Times

235 to zero.

This is the disparity in Gov. Josh Shapiro’s public messaging on X between abortion and adoption since he took the governor’s office.

In a review of the @GovernorShapiro X account, since he became governor (and to the date of this article’s publishing), Josh Shapiro has mentioned abortion 128 times and used an abortion euphemism another 107 times.

In total, the number of mentions by Governor Shapiro of abortion or abortion euphemisms on X: 235

What about mentions of adoption? Zero. Foster care? Zero.

Not once has Governor Josh Shapiro posted about adoption or foster care on X.

Having a governor who is effectively shouting his abortion policies and lobbying to facilitate the intentionally killing of unborn children is horrible enough. But choosing to not post at all about adoption or foster care is salt in an open wound.

Other governors have taken the opportunity to post about the benefits of adoption and foster care. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has spoken personally about adoption, calling it “a blessing” for both children and parents.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee launched a public-private initiative to help children in foster care find permanent homes. “We have an obligation to ensure that every child has a loving, permanent home,” posted Gov. Lee. Ohio Gov. Mike Devine made a video post about November being National Adoption Month, including a link to a state website for resources at FosterAndAdopt.Ohio.gov.

Yet here in Pennsylvania, one website Shapiro has posted about multiple times is his state-created “Freedom to Choose” page that locates abortion sites in our state.

And sadly, Shapiro’s record raises even more red flags for organizations looking to help women and children with adoption and foster care services.

Consider the case of Fulton v. City of Philadelphia. When Shapiro was Pennsylvania’s attorney general, the Commonwealth filed an amicus brief supporting Philadelphia’s position in its effort to exclude Catholic Social Services from the city’s foster-care program.

The U.S. Supreme Court ultimately ruled, in a 9-0 unanimous decision, that Philadelphia had violated Catholic Social Services’ First Amendment freedoms. The Court emphasized that Catholic Social Services had long served children in Philadelphia’s foster-care system and was seeking to continue that work consistent with its religious beliefs.

It’s alarming that on his social media channel Governor Shapiro has not made one post about adoption and foster care services. No conversation starters on opportunities like an adoption tax credit proposal from Pennsylvania State Senator Tracy Pennycuick. Not even one post in support of November’s National Adoption Month.

Is Gov. Shapiro too blinded by the abortion industry’s agenda? Since Planned Parenthood doesn’t profit from babies saved through adoption, why bother drawing attention to it?

At worst, it’s an agenda fixated on the intentional killing of human beings in the womb. At the very least, it’s a missed opportunity.

I recently watched an interview with Gov. Shapiro where he said, “If someone tells you who they are, believe them.”

Governor Shapiro, for nearly four years you have used social media to make abortion a consistent topic of conversation while, according to this review, given no attention to adoption and foster care.
