Trump Calls Butler Assassination Attempt A ‘Democrat Plot,’ Blasts Christopher Wray

Did Wray blow it?

President Donald Trump is accusing the Biden-era FBI of mishandling the investigation into the 2024 attempt on his life — and is now going further, calling the Butler shooting part of a “Democrat Plot” to knock him out of the election.

“Everybody knows the Crooked Joe Biden FBI didn’t do what they should have with respect to the Lunatic who shot me in Butler, PA,” Trump wrote Tuesday on TRUTH Social.

Trump said that by the time he returned to office in January 2025, “most of the information was missing, altered, corrupted, or gone,” then pointed to newly surfaced details about gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks.

“New info was just found! Why wasn’t it seen long ago?” Trump wrote.

“This was all a Democrat Plot, to get me out of the Election, that failed.”

During its initial investigation, the FBI said it found no credible evidence that Crooks conspired with anyone else, and investigators had not identified a definitive motive.

Trump also aimed directly at former FBI Director Christopher Wray.

“Dirty Cop Christopher Wray should pay a price for the way he handled this assassination attempt,” Trump wrote.

The outburst followed new reporting based on FBI records detailing how Crooks prepared for the July 13, 2024 attack. The records indicate he used aliases for online purchases — including the name “Bob Dole” — and had been quietly buying firearms-related items well before the rally.

Crooks climbed onto a roof near Trump’s Butler rally and opened fire, grazing Trump’s ear, killing attendee Corey Comperatore and seriously wounding two others before a Secret Service sniper killed him.

The FBI later said Crooks had researched assassination-related topics, including how far Lee Harvey Oswald was from President John F. Kennedy, and had visited the Butler rally site days before the shooting.
