Lindsay Clancy Holdout Juror Says Being Black Republican May Be Fueling Backlash

The lone juror who blocked an insanity verdict for Lindsay Clancy says being a Black Republican and Trump supporter may be fueling the backlash against him.

Michael P. Desronvil, 48, was the only juror who refused to find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity, forcing a mistrial. Now, according to YouTuber Ray Marcel, Desronvil believes his conservative politics may be part of why he’s being targeted.

“He thinks he knows why he might be getting targeted,” Marcel said. “He’s a Republican. He is a black Republican. He has conservative views.”

Marcel also said Desronvil believed he had served alongside Democrats on the jury. That assertion has not been independently verified, and there is no public evidence establishing that politics drove the other jurors’ positions in the case.

What is established: Desronvil stood alone.

Eleven jurors were prepared to find Clancy not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility. Desronvil refused, leaving the panel deadlocked and forcing a mistrial after more than 40 hours of deliberations.

Clancy has admitted killing her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months — at the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in 2023. The fight at trial was over her criminal responsibility: the defense argued severe postpartum psychiatric illness left her legally insane, while prosecutors argued the killings were planned and intentional.

Desronvil says the prosecution convinced him.

“I didn’t have any doubts,” he said.

“Based on all the physical evidence, key witnesses, and what the prosecution presented, I thought it was enough proof that she knew exactly what she was doing and planned.”

Several fellow jurors have told a very different story, accusing Desronvil of disregarding their arguments and struggling with the legal standard for reasonable doubt. Desronvil says they misunderstood him and insists he never wavered.

Now the fight has spilled far outside the jury room.

Desronvil retained attorney Edward Andrew Paltzik, who has previously represented President Donald Trump and has publicly described his new client as an “American Hero and Champion of Justice.”

Paltzik also made Desronvil’s politics explicit, saying his client supports Trump and “cherishes our sacred Constitution.”

And he issued a warning to Desronvil’s critics.

“Rest assured that the evil people who have so viciously attacked this American Hero and Champion of Justice will be held accountable to the maximum extent of the law and beyond,” Paltzik wrote.

Paltzik says Desronvil is now staying at an undisclosed secure location in Northern New England while the attention surrounding the case continues.
