President Trump is taking his unlikely détente with socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to Gracie Mansion.
Trump will meet Mamdani at the mayor’s official residence Monday as the president arrives in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
The sit-down will focus on “issues affecting New York City and New Yorkers,” Mamdani communications director Anna Bahr said.

The White House confirmed the meeting but offered no further details.
It will be the pair’s third face-to-face since Mamdani’s election — and their first meeting in New York City.
That would have sounded unlikely during the 2025 mayoral campaign.
Trump branded Mamdani a “100% Communist Lunatic” as the democratic socialist surged past former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary and went on to win City Hall.
But the temperature dropped dramatically once the votes were counted.
Their first Oval Office meeting in November was strikingly cordial, with Trump praising the mayor-elect and predicting, “I think he is going to surprise some conservative people, actually.”
“The better he does, the happier I am,” Trump said.
They met again at the White House in February.
This time, Mamdani arrived with a pitch tailored for the famously newspaper-obsessed president: a mock New York Daily News front page reading “TRUMP TO CITY: LET’S BUILD.”
It riffed on the tabloid’s infamous 1975 “FORD TO CITY: DROP DEAD” cover.
Mamdani was seeking federal backing for a major housing proposal at Sunnyside Yard in Queens. His office said Trump was enthusiastic about the presentation.
The Democratic mayor also raised immigration cases with Trump during that meeting.
Now Trump is returning the visit.
The president is due to address the U.N. General Assembly Tuesday, with a packed slate of meetings with foreign leaders.
But first comes another sit-down with one of his more unexpected political partners — this time on Mamdani’s home turf.
