Abortion Clinics in Illinois Injure Three More Women in Botched Abortions

Unregulated, unlicensed abortion clinics have continued to maim and injure women across the state of Illinois, with the three most recent emergencies taking place in Chicago, where city officials continue to withhold and unreasonably redact public records.

In 2025, alone, Operation Rescue received reports of 21 women injured across eight abortion facilities.

“Our team has investigated each of these 21 injuries,” says Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “However, details that should be accessible to the public have become harder and harder to obtain in Illinois – and Chicago, in particular. City officials seem to think shielding the abortion clinics they refuse to inspect and regulate is more important than allowing the public to find out what these unregulated clinics are doing to women.”

1. Family Planning Associates, September 30

Sometime after 11:00 AM, sidewalk counselors reported seeing a fire truck and then an ambulance outside of Family Planning Associates in Chicago, a clinic deemed Operation Rescue’s Worst of the Worst in 2024. Eventually a woman was taken out on a gurney as abortion escorts or clinic staff tried to hide the incident by holding up large white sheets. Video captured by sidewalk missionary Juan-Elias Riesco showed the woman’s head was also covered with a sheet.

2. Family Planning Associates, October 7

Just seven days later, another woman required emergency transport from Family Planning Associates. More video captured by Riesco showed a woman brought out in a wheelchair around 10:30 AM and then assisted by emergency responders into the back of an ambulance. She moved gingerly, as if in pain or possibly even groggy from sedation.

Operation Rescue attempted to obtain 911 audio records for both incidents, but no audio records were provided. In the meantime, these two emergencies bring the count to five women requiring emergency transportation from this facility in 2025 and not one incident has been investigated by the state.

3. Near North Planned Parenthood, November 16

Coalition Life recently released shocking footage from the sidewalk of Near North Planned Parenthood in Chicago. Sidewalk counselors encountered a woman weeping and trying to get emergency assistance while collapsed at the entrance of Planned Parenthood. She told counselors on the scene that Planned Parenthood had thrown her out after a procedure and told her to call 911 herself.

Despite Illinois not requiring clinics to be inspected, Operation Rescue submitted a complaint to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation demanding an immediate investigation by some state entity regarding Planned Parenthood callously throwing a woman into the street.

“What is happening in Illinois is unconscionable,” says Newman. “An abortion clinic can literally dump an injured woman on the street while state officials refuse to require these back-alley chop shops to be licensed or even inspected. What other place of legitimate health care is allowed that kind of blind leniency? The answer is none. Abortion, the sacred cow of states like Illinois, is the only industry that receives the freedom to do as it pleases, while women and preborn children pay the price.”
