California Democrats are pushing a bill that would hand over $90 million in taxpayer money to abortion giant Planned Parenthood and similar groups, enabling them to continue killing babies in abortions.
Senate Bill 106, introduced by Democratic leaders including Senate President Pro Tempore Monique Limón, D-Santa Barbara, and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, D-Salinas, allocates the $90 million from the state’s general fund to grants for abortion companies hit by restrictions under the federal One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed last summer.
That federal law prohibits funding for groups that kill babies in abortions, which has reduced resources for Planned Parenthood’s operations.
The $90 million is part of a larger funding package in the bill that also includes $140.2 million for health care programs.

This comes after a separate $140 million allocation announced by Gov. Gavin Newsom in October to keep Planned Parenthood abortion clinics open.
Pro-life groups blasted the proposal as a misuse of taxpayer dollars to prop up an industry that ends unborn lives. Mary Rose Short, director of outreach for Right to Life California, criticized the funding for ignoring women who choose life.
“It’s interesting that even Newsom wouldn’t give them everything they asked for,” Short told The Center Square. “The taxpayers will be giving them over $200 million, and for a very specific subset of the population and not helping women who want to keep their babies.”
Despite the push for more funding, abortions in California have slightly declined, with the number of babies killed in abortions dropping 2% from 93,940 in 2024 to 92,460 in 2025, according to data from the Guttmacher Institute. That could be due to the fact that so many people have left California for other states.
Out-of-state residents seeking abortions in the state also fell 30% from 2,000 to 1,400 over the same period.
But more tax dollars for the abortion corporation probably means more promotion of abortions.
