I was reminded of John Lennon’s song Imagine – so popular, apparently, with people of a secular nature. It is, in my view, one of the worst songs ever written in terms of its message. The song’s lyrics call for us to imagine a world in which there is no heaven or religion or countries: “Imagine there’s no heaven / It’s easy if you try / No hell below us / Above us only sky / Imagine all the people / Living for today . . .” What Lennon did not understand, apparently, is the moral entropy of this thing within us we call sin.
Christ offers more than John Lennon could ever ‘Imagine’
