Company Sold Body Parts From Aborted Babies for $765 Each

A company that harvests organs from aborted babies sold fetal livers and thymus glands to taxpayer-funded University of California laboratories for $765 apiece.

According to newly-obtained purchase orders obtained by the Center for Medical Progress through a California Public Records Act request, the August and September 2023 orders from a UCLA lab to Cercle Allocation Services totaled $16,065 for 21 body parts — 14 livers and seven thymus glands — each billed separately at $765. UCLA revised the orders several times at Cercle’s insistence to strip out sales-tax language so the transactions would appear to cover services rather than the actual aborted baby parts.

A Cercle account manager wrote in a September 2023 email: “The overriding issue is the use of terminology that we must not use due to their improper implication that we are selling taxable items,” and “Due to the nature of our business we must be very careful and clear that we invoice fees for our procurement services (untaxable).”

The manager warned that references to “Total Tax” and “Total Price Includes Sales Tax” “would imply that we are selling the items received (which are illegal to sell).” Federal law, 42 U.S. Code 289g-2, makes it a felony to transfer any human fetal tissue for valuable consideration.

Cercle previously operated as Advanced Bioscience Resources, which held government contracts and, with Planned Parenthood, drew congressional criminal referrals in 2016 after undercover reporting.

Planned Parenthood has supplied the company with aborted baby parts since the 1990s. Perrin Larton, then an Advanced Bioscience Resources procurement manager and now with Cercle, testified under oath in 2019 that intact aborted babies were harvested “every couple months” and that she sometimes saw fetal hearts still beating after they were cut out.

The company has also sold FDA-regulated fetal organs for as much as $7,000 each; a March 2025 order for a fetal brain was canceled because none could be obtained.

David Daleiden, founder and president of the Center for Medical Progress, said the invoices “show the extreme financial incentives that exist for ‘research’ abortions to deliver whole, preemie-size babies alive—as appears to have been done to baby Clementine and her mother, and potentially thousands of others.”

Those records concern a roughly five-month infant that CMP says was born alive at Cherry Hill Women’s Center abortion business in New Jersey and transferred to Cercle in March 2024. Clinic charts reviewed for the documentary “What Happened To Clementine?” recorded a heartbeat, listed the fetal-demise injection as “Not Administered,” and showed a 600-microgram dose of the labor drug misoprostol.

Experts who examined the timestamps said the operating-room steps left barely one minute to remove the baby. The abortion clinic has served as a procurement site for the company for more than a decade and was cited by the New Jersey Department of Health in 2026 for infection-control and patient-care failures.

Clementine’s parents named her and have asked the clinic and Cercle for her remains; both have refused. Her mother, who signed a Cercle consent form while in labor and under the influence of marijuana, later said: “I was afraid I was going to die. I didn’t know what was going to happen if I didn’t sign it for the surgery. I felt like I had no choice. I was trusting them, so I signed it … I did not read that. I just signed it, because what else was I supposed to do?”

Her father, Thomas Kearns, said the price list brought the case home: “Looking at the prices on this page reminds me of what they claim my daughter Clementine’s life was worth. I’m reminded that these body parts came from children just like my daughter Clementine—children who were more than just a liver or a thymus. The value that Clementine and these children had to offer the world was not a price tag from a business exchange. They are not just their body parts or organs. They had souls, they had families, they had their own lives if they were not interrupted by the abortion and organ harvesting industry. This is the same agency that took my daughter two years ago. Were the babies in these purchase orders harvested with the same partial-birth abortion methods as my daughter?”

Elise Ketch, an associate reporter with CMP, added: “Mass organ harvesting for fetal research is the beating heart of the abortion industry. Behind all the fiercest defenders of abortion you can find a tie to profits from this black market. You just have to look.”
