The Trump Administration is touting a historic stretch of border enforcement, with federal officials announcing 11 consecutive months of zero migrant releases at the southern border.
The milestone, confirmed Friday by the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection, marks what officials describe as a dramatic shift in enforcement outcomes.
“Eleven straight months of ZERO releases at the border. Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, we are delivering the most secure border in American history,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “The world knows America’s borders are closed to lawbreakers.”

CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott echoed the message, crediting a coordinated federal strategy.
“America First policies, real consequences, and a unified federal effort—backed by personnel, infrastructure, and technology—are how we’ve delivered the most secure border in U.S. history,” Scott said. “This isn’t temporary—it’s the new normal.”
Officials point to sweeping declines in illegal crossings and apprehensions as proof of the policy shift.
According to DHS and CBP, daily apprehensions are down 95% compared to the previous administration, while monthly southwest border apprehensions have remained below 9,000 for 14 straight months — levels not seen in more than 30 years.
The administration argues the sustained drop reflects a deterrence-based approach combining stricter enforcement, expanded resources, and clearer consequences for illegal entry.
With crossings at historic lows and releases effectively halted, officials say the goal now is durability — locking in policies that prevent a return to the surge conditions seen in prior years.
