DNI Gabbard Blasts Congressman for ‘Unfortunate Accident’ Claim [WATCH]

During a Friday morning appearance on Fox & Friends, DNI Tulsi Gabbard addressed Rep. Bennie Thompson’s claim that the shooting of two National Guard members in Washington D.C. was an “unfortunate accident.”

Thompson made the claim during Thursday’s House oversight hearing on national security.

“This is someone who is a very, very senior leader in Congress… and the fact that he cannot, and refuses to, directly identify this attack for what it was—a terrorist attack… is one of the reasons why we find ourselves in the position that we’re in today,” Gabbad said.

Thompson, the top Democrat on the Homeland Security Committee, used the eyebrow-raising phrase while grilling Noem on Thursday about the immigration process that let the alleged shooter into the U.S.

Thompson casually labeled the attack — which killed one guardsman and left another fighting for his life — an “unfortunate accident.”

“You think that was an unfortunate accident? He shot our guardsmen in the head,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem fired back during the hearing.

Thompson doubled down, calling it an “unfortunate situation” and insisting Noem was unfairly blaming President Biden.
