Sounds like the memo went out.
During a recent interview on NPR’s All Things Considered, California Governor Gavin Newsom was challenged on his inconsistent tone and “playground” antics on social media.
“It’s who I am,” Newsom said. “I married into a big Republican family, and I love my Republican father-in-law. And that’s why I’m here in a rural part of a red state,” Newsom said.
“Okay, but I want to understand who you are politically,” host Alisa Chang said. “I’m trying to understand your overall strategy here. On the one hand, you’re bringing people like the late Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon onto your podcast. On the otherhand, you’re trolling President Trump on X. You mock his writing style. You mock his body!”
“We shouldn’t be body shaming, let me double check that,” Newsom said.
Change challenged Newsom on his online store’s controversial MAGA-branded kneepads “for all your groveling to Trump needs.”
“How do you square those playground insults with the listening sessions you’re having with these conservatives on your podcast … what if you’re confusing people? Why not present one consistent tone?”
Brutal.
