President Donald Trump suggested the U.S. might take the fight onto Venezuelan soil, telling his Cabinet on Tuesday that land attacks are on the table as the administration escalates its war on narcoterrorism networks.
Asked about a recent operation where a drug-running boat was obliterated by two missile strikes, Trump didn’t flinch. “I want those boats taken out, and if we have to we’ll attack on land also, just like we attack on sea,” he said, making it clear the cartels have nowhere left to hide.
Trump said he was aware of survivors pulled from the water after the first strike but added he didn’t know about the second one. What he does know, he said, is simple: “All I know is every boat that you see get blown up. We save 25,000 on average lives.”
The president railed against the toxic cocktail pouring into the U.S. from the region — fentanyl, cocaine, and everything in between. “Fentanyl right now is the leader of the pack to kill our entire nation,” Trump said, adding that “a little speck of the head of a pin can kill somebody.” He described addicts dying from a single exposure: “They died. They were — they couldn’t believe it.”
Trump went even further, estimating that U.S. military operations have taken out “90 percent” of all drug trafficking headed for American shores. The strikes, he said, are “saving hundreds of thousands of lives.”
As Trump signals the fight could soon move to land, cartels across the hemisphere just got the clearest warning yet: run — while you still can.
