ICE Swarms Maine for ‘Operation Catch of the Day’ — Confirms 1,400 Targets [WATCH]

Immigration and Customs Enforcement just dropped the hammer in Maine — launching a fresh operation targeting the “worst of the worst” illegal criminal migrants, according to federal authorities.

Agents swarmed the Pine Tree State on Tuesday for “Operation Catch of the Day,” a crackdown aimed at undocumented scofflaws who have “terrorized communities,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a press release Wednesday.

And the numbers came fast. On Day One alone, officers arrested around 50 migrants, ICE Deputy Assistant Director Patricia Hyde told Fox News.

“We have approximately 1,400 targets here in Maine,” Hyde told the outlet.

Hyde said some of the migrants ICE is trying to catch are accused of raping children, drug trafficking, and assaults — with suspects tied to countries including Senegal, Somalia, Honduras, Guatemala, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, among others.

Fox’s Tuesday night segment (above) showed ICE agents arresting two Ecuadorian nationals — a man and a woman — reportedly facing drunken driving charges, along with a repeat criminal from Sudan.

DHS also listed additional arrests from the operation’s first day, including:
• Ambessa Berhe, an Ethiopian national convicted of aggravated assault and cocaine possession
• Elmara Correria, an Angola national previously arrested for endangering the welfare of a child
• Dany Lopez-Cortez, an illegal migrant from Guatemala convicted of operating under the influence of alcohol
