At least one million people worldwide are expected to participate in the 35th annual See You at the Pole this Wednesday. Please pray that God will use this gathering to stir the hearts of young people to know the truth of the Gospel.
See You at the Pole started in 1990, when ten Texas students, led by the Holy Spirit, gathered at their school flagpole to pray for their friends, school, community and nation. Decades later, students on campuses around the world still gather each year to participate in this sacred time of seeking God through prayer..
The prayer rally takes place every year on the fourth Wednesday in September. It is student-initiated, student-organized and student-led.
Focus on the Family is proud to be one of many faith-based ministries supporting See You at the Pole.
The theme this year is “Awe.” It’s based on the verse Habakkuk 3:2: “I have heard all about you, Lord. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by.”
The video highlights, “in troubled times God moves in unexpected ways” and our response is awe. It encourages students to join the global movement to seek God through prayer at See You at the Pole.
The See You at the Pole website offers tools for planning, preparing and publicizing the event. There are also resources to help students build a Christian community after the event, including ideas about how to start a Christian club on campus, how to launch a campus prayer group and how to create a regular prayer ministry for students at school.
Thankfully, in America today, the right to pray in school is still a freedom protected by the U.S. Constitution. Our kids can legally gather together at school any day to pray.
Now more than ever the young people of this nation are hungry for spiritual truth. Pray for the students seeking God in prayer on their school campuses this week and for all the students that will be a witness to their testimony.
Let this year’s See You at the Pole gathering spark an interest and an opportunity for God’s truth to be known on campuses across the globe.
Students who participate in See You at the Pole may also want to take part in Bring Your Bible to School Day on October 2.
