Josh Shapiro Torches Kamala Harris for Former Veep’s Book Claims

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro just torched former Vice President Kamala Harris in a no-holds-barred interview, accusing her of lying in her new memoir and smearing him to sell copies.

Harris’ book, 107 Days, claims Shapiro peppered her vetting team with needy, borderline diva-like questions while she considered him for vice president, including allegedly asking how he could get Pennsylvania artists displayed in the Smithsonian.

She also painted him as a would-be co-president, saying she reminded him, “a vice president is not a co-president.”

Shapiro wasn’t having it.

“She wrote that in her book? That’s complete and utter bull––,” he said, blasting the account as “blatant lies.”

He admitted asking questions, but made clear that was normal. “Wouldn’t you ask questions if someone was talking to you about forming a partnership and working together?”

The Atlantic’s Tim Alberta noted that both sides described the meeting similarly. When asked if he felt betrayed, Shapiro didn’t hold back:

“I mean, she’s trying to sell books and cover her a–,” he snapped — then paused, corrected himself, and tried again: “I shouldn’t say ‘cover her a–.’ That’s not appropriate… She’s trying to sell books. Period.”

Harris didn’t only take aim at Shapiro. She also revealed she had concerns about Pete Buttigieg, writing that while he might have been an “ideal partner,” his identity made the ticket politically risky: “We were already asking a lot of America: to accept a woman, a Black woman, a Black woman married to a Jewish man.”

In the end, Harris chose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, whose rocky rollout — including blowback over past misleading statements about his military service — became another headache for her faltering campaign.
