White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is set to brief reporters Wednesday morning as the administration flexes after the U.S. capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.
President Donald Trump has signaled the U.S. will temporarily “run” Venezuela and move to rebuild and control its oil infrastructure after Maduro was arrested and indicted in New York.
Trump said late Tuesday that Venezuela would turn over 30–50 million barrels of oil.
The briefing also comes after the U.S. seized two more oil tankers linked to Venezuela, tightening the screws on sanctioned shipments.
