Kurt Hyde’s Warning Against Paperless Electronic Voting

With primaries in full swing during August (17 states) and the November midterm elections looming, election fraud and election reform efforts are at the top of citizen concern and media coverage. One of the biggest issues regarding election integrity concerns the need to reverse the national disaster of electronic voting foisted on us decades ago and to return to paper ballots. In the 1980s and 1990s electronic voting was all the rage. But the pendulum has swung back. The elections of the past decade have shown the folly of digital machine voting. A 2025 Pew Research Center survey found that 84% of Americans surveyed favored a paper ballot. Forty years ago The New American led the way, publishing the first article in a national publication challenging the widespread opinion of media-anointed “experts” who claimed that we absolutely must switch to voting machines without any verifiable paper trail. Our own election expert Col. Kurt Hyde was a co-chair and lead presenter at the First National Symposium on Security and Reliability of Computers in the Voting Process, held August 14-15, 1986 in Boston, Massachusetts. It should surprise no one that the symposium was ignored by the establishment media, which was hellbent on pushing the move to unverifiable digital voting that is fraught with vulnerabilities to vote fraud. The New American published an article by Col. Hyde, “Computerized Elections: The Votes Are Still Out” about the symposium and the dangerous madness of efforts to get rid of paper ballots.
